First Class: Introducing Breitling Navitimer American Airlines Limited Edition
Breitling once again paid tribute to the golden age of air travel.
Success breeds success. In 2019, luxury Breitling launched its tribute to the legendary airlines Pan Am, Swiss Airlines and TWA and its Navitimer collection. They are all smash hits. These designs capture the glamour of the glorious period of air travel in the 1960s, when passengers and crew were neatly dressed before boarding. These watches are a tribute to the cutting-edge technology that allows these airplanes to transport people around the world.
These airlines have ceased operations (renamed), and air travel has changed a lot since the 1960s, but Breitling’s latest tribute to flying is equally attractive. The new Breitling Navitimer American Airlines Limited Edition pays tribute to the legendary airline (which is still strong after more than 90 years) and also pays tribute to the aviation era of the 1960s and 1970s, when people’s flying dreams were finally realized.
“I still remember the excitement of my first flight,” Breitling CEO George Cohen recalled. “Navitimer American Airlines has brought me everything: simple design, optimistic attitude, feeling of discovery; this is a watch that encourages our dreams, just like American Airlines itself, it continues to broaden our horizons.”
The Navitimer American Airlines Limited Edition is only available in the United States and pays homage to the tailoring style of the 1960s and 1970s. This is not only the golden age of air travel, but also an exciting time for the corporate image. In 1967, American Airlines introduced the iconic red, white, and blue logo designed by the legendary Massimo Vignelli (also creator of the New York City subway map). American Airlines has the largest fleet in the world and still symbolizes how the spirit of discovery has brought us closer together.
Navitimer was launched in 1952 and is one of the most enduring examples of design in the mid-century. It is the world’s first portable flight computer, equipped with an iconic slide rule and rotating bezel, which can help pilots calculate key measurements such as wind influence, speed and fuel consumption. Moreover, just as the development of jet aircraft can carry more people for longer distances, the high-precision Navitimer continues to fulfill its promise of “anything is possible”.
Blue sky
Like Breitling’s previous airline-specific Navitimers, this watch captures the uniforms of American Airlines while still being able to play a role in the airline’s iconic bold colors and the clean lines of the 1960s and 1970s graphics.
The watch uses a 43 mm x 14.25 mm stainless steel Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 case with a blue dial; red hour and minute hands; the transparent sapphire caseback is printed with the American Airlines logo to echo the uniform. It also has a two-way bezel with a round slide rule; curved sapphire crystal (anti-glare on both sides); screw-in sapphire crystal back; and a non-screw-locking crown with two washers to help provide Water resistance up to 30 meters.
The engine of the Best quality swiss watch is the 01-type movement made by Breitling. This self-winding, COSC-certified chronograph movement is equipped with a two-way ball bearing rotor and a column wheel clutch, providing 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 70 hours. This timepiece is very suitable for long-distance flights. Blue with a contrasting white chronograph dial, Super-LumiNova coating on the hands and hour and minute hands, providing maximum legibility at night; very suitable for dark cabins.
One of the most unusual things about air travel is landing in a faraway place, not knowing what the upcoming adventure is. As the possibility of travel opens up again, even business travel is no longer so boring. Navitimer American Airlines Limited Edition watches are available in two different straps-a brown leather strap with a tang buckle, or a stainless steel mesh bracelet with a folding clasp. These ensure that you are prepared for any possible trip.
