U BOAT combines two worlds in the new CAPSOIL DOPPIO TEMPO series

One of our favorite Italian watch manufacturers is cheap U-Boat. Their unique and adventurous luxury watch collection is entirely inspired by the creativity of Italo Fontana, the grandson of the brand’s original inspiration. When he chooses design features and technical specifications for himself, his creativity and unmistakable character are reflected in every U-Boat watch. For the latest release of the brand, he challenged himself to merge the two products of the past and the present.

As early as 1938, U-Boat launched the Doppiotempo model originally designed for the Italian army’s parachute assault group Col Moschin. Its DNA has two crowns, one for setting the time and date, and the other for adjusting the dual time zone function-dual time zone means “Doppiotempo” in Italian. Then pair the dual time function with the iconic rotating bezel for easy setting and reading of the second time zone. It is this complication that inspired the brand’s latest release because it is combined with their legendary oil-immersed Capsoil watch in the new U-Boat Capsoil Doppio Tempo series.

Those who are not familiar with U-Boat Capsoil series can enjoy it. These breakthrough designs demonstrate the brand’s oil immersion concept, immersing the entire motor core and dial in an oil bath. This effect is really shocking, it enhances the three-dimensional effect and gives the impression that there is no sapphire crystal glass. There is also a unique compensation bubble on the dial that can float freely on the dial to compensate for temperature changes. The new U-Boat Capsoil Doppio Tempo watch offers the same dial and historic Doppiotempo complications, combining tradition and innovation perfectly.

There are currently two U-Boat Capsoil Doppio Tempo watches to choose from, both of which offer the same functionality, movement and beauty, but with different case finishes. Reference 8769 is made of classic AISI 316L stainless steel, while the second model 8770 has satin black DLC treatment on the steel. Both designs are 45 mm in diameter, and are equipped with two crowns on the left side of the case, a rotating bezel, and a closed case back that is water-resistant to 100 meters.

For us, the dial of the U-Boat Capsoil Doppio Tempo watch is the real beauty. The dial has two superimposed layers, completely immersed in oil, presenting one of the richest black dials we have ever seen. Thanks to the bright colors of the contrasting beige Superluminova processing hands and time scales and the red arrow-shaped GMT hands, its purity also contributes to extreme legibility. The dial is protected by curved sapphire crystal glass.

Powering the hours, minutes and dual time complications is a Swiss-made motor core, which is fully lubricated in the same oil bath as the dial. It is protected by an innovative locking system back cover for quick battery replacement. Finally, each U-Boat Capsoil Doppio Tempo watch is equipped with a super wear-resistant black vulcanized rubber strap with best U-Boat embossed logo and pin buckle printed on it, and the case material is decorated accordingly.
