Richard Mille RM 60-01 Les Voiles De St Barth
Les Voiles De St Barth Richard Mille is the official name of the annual event celebrating the finest and most technologically advanced yachts competing in a series of races across seven classes. The first event took place in 2010, and Richard Mille was involved for the next decade, so much so that, by 2019, the brand’s moniker was added to the event’s name. The event, which has seen nearly 500 boats from around the world take part in the event, has become an important fixture on the regatta circuit and provides a valuable source of income for St Barths. With the 2021 disruption due to Covid, Richard Mille wanted to support the island and pledged the proceeds from the sale of one of the watches to support a worthy cause.
The RM 60-10 is the captain’s swiss army knife, equipped with all the useful features needed to compete in such serious regatta. This watch has all the features you’d expect from a watch geared towards high seas life, including a 50mm titanium and carbon water-resistant case (requiring only 10 days of machining and milling), an automatic movement with annual calendar with oversized date, Flyback chronograph, 60-minute countdown and UTC or GMT hands allow the wearer to monitor two time zones or use the hands as a convenient navigation tool.
A genius compass anywhere in the world allows the wearer to discover true north using the watch’s bezel. Simply use the pusher at eight o’clock on the case to set the UTC hand to the correct local time on the bezel. Once set up, point the UTC hand to the sun and North, South, East and West on the bezel will point in the right direction, whether you’re racing or embarking on an epic aquatic adventure, you can set the right course as it can Immediately used for northern and southern hemisphere reading, the feat becomes even more genius.
If you’re in a regatta, getting in the right place at the start is a little more complicated than it looks. When the boat is ready to cross the invisible starting line at the designated moment, the captain will usually want to read the elapsed time and the time remaining. The RM60-01 replaces the traditional hands with a skeletonized 60-minute dial. replica watches review
