But with the launch of the Luminor Marina Carbotech Blu Notte, Panerai also captured the aesthetics by integrating the two iconic elements of Panerai’s design vocabulary-the Carbotech case and the Blu Notte dial-into one nice watches. The beauty of the deep sea.

Although collectors like to talk about complications and specifications, in fact, most of the time, for emotional reasons, we are attracted to watches. It may also be visually appealing or cause certain feelings or fleeting fantasies (aka FOMO).

The technical elements of Panerai’s new PAM01664 are no different from other Luminor Marinas. But at first glance, the combination of the Carbotech case and Blu Notte dial is a personal issue for me. It evokes the story of my first boat trip in the North Atlantic when I was six months old. Since then, the sea has nourished my soul.

Although I am not a diver, I come from a family of fishermen, so I go to the ocean as often as possible. The appearance of this watch reminds me of the beauty of the ocean in my hometown. Specifically, the radiance of the sun-frosted blue dial is reminiscent of looking down at the water through as much light as possible.

The Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech Blu Notte is paired with a 44 mm matte black Carbotech case, creating an indisputable sense of calm, while conveying the beauty of strength, charm and elegance.

Land and sea
The toughness of the Carbotech case also reminds me of the ruthlessness of the sea. Side note: Only one of my ten uncles learned to swim because the water is too cold. If you fall into the water, you are more likely to freeze than drown. But I digress…

Carbotech is made by fusing a carbon fiber layer with a cutting-edge polymer PEEK under high temperature and pressure, and is known for providing greater resistance to external forces than metal, including the corrosive effect of salt water. In addition, the panels produced during the production process have a warm matte black surface and slight tonal changes, giving each Luminor Marina Carbotech Blu Notte its unique personality.

This matte black is the ideal frame for the sky blue sandwich dial. The numerals, hour markers and black steel hands are marked with white Super-LuminNova luminous material, which emits green light in the dark. These are super practical features-readability is the most important under water. However, if you are the closest to underwater diving to watch a Jacques Cousteau documentary, don’t worry; you can still appreciate how the design of this watch evokes the spirit of the sea.

The 44 mm Carbotech case houses the P.9010 movement, which is an automatic movement with hours, minutes, small seconds and date. The concise function gives extra elegance-not only beautiful, but also easy to use. For example, since there is a device that moves forward or backward in one-hour increments, the hour can be changed without affecting the movement of the minute hand.

P.9010 was conceived by Panerai’s Laboratorio di Idee and completely manufactured in-house by the Panerai Neuchatel manufacturer. It is also equipped with a three-day power reserve and 30 bar (300 meters) water resistance. Marina Carbotech Blu Notte (PAM01664) is equipped with a matte Blu Notte alligator leather strap and dark blue rubber strap with a titanium trapezoidal pin buckle and DLC coating.
