Corum Admiral’s Cup Watch Line received a black flag and a black hull, bringing happy hours to pirates

I have always been a fan of the Corum Admiral’s Cup series of watches, which is a more modern version. This watch is designed to celebrate the Admiral’s Cup Regatta, and you will only hear of it if you are called “Admiral” in certain circles or are currently wearing deck shoes. The trademark of the watch is a sign used as an hour indicator. Oh, and the chronograph second hand, apparently made of a cocktail shaker. This is of course related to boating.

The real advantages of Admiral’s Cup watches are the angular case, large size and large hands. This is an exquisite-looking watch with exquisite components. There are many functions, from tide charts to calendars, small seconds and, of course, a chronograph. Not sure if they have a regatta timer, but they should.

Relying on the success of the design, Corum continues to release changes, of which recent changes are quite large. Blag Flag and Black Hull share a 48 mm wide case, which is very fair to the bold performance of the watch. Each case material also includes titanium and rubber; making the case lightweight and durable. The strap is of course also rubber.

The timing buttons on the case have an interesting function; a sliding lock to prevent them from being pushed. Some chronograph buttons provide screw guards, but Korum has taken a clever little approach here to do different things (because screw guards obviously don’t work because the buttons are not circular).

Both models are equipped with the best Corum CO753 self-winding movement certified by the Observatory. These watches have a water resistance of 300 meters and all the high-quality structures and surface treatments you can get from Corum.

The Black Flag and Black Hull models are very similar, only different on the dial. Black Hull is completely black, and Black Flag is the blue luminous on the hands and numbers. Both watches are elegantly set off with black logos, which are slowly becoming remnants of the Admiral’s Cup series and seem to be slowly losing their meaning. Here, the flags are neatly placed in dark tones along the chapter ring (or um, dodecagon) around the dial. You will notice that the hands (the main dial and especially the sub-dial) are taken from the appearance of a classic compass.

The dial difference is there, mainly in different textures and sub-dial designs. One has a more exposed date window. They are all equally good, but they are not legendary in terms of innovation. There are handsome sports watches everywhere, suitable for pirates or whatever you want to do while at sea (or on land). However, my choice is the black flag, probably because the blue color is pleasant, and I like the theme of the auxiliary seconds dial to look like a compass. Interestingly, the Admiral’s Cup Black Flag is a limited edition of 100 pieces and is only available in the United States. That is a new one.
