Grand Seiko Ref. SBGA469-Inspired by color
The dial of the Grand Seiko Boutique Online limited edition has been specially treated.
The unique indigo dye Katsu-iro has a long tradition that can be traced back to Japan during the Warring States Period in the 15th century. The unique blue hue of this indigo dye symbolizes victory, and it is proudly used in armor worn by samurai. Grand Seiko deployed this color on the dial of SBGC238 before, and it worked very well. Today, Grand Seiko combines this vibrant hue with the brand’s acclaimed Iwao or rock pattern. The SBGA469 dial is the highly versatile Spring Drive kit in the Heritage Collection.
SBGA413 Shunbun is probably the most famous rock pattern. It is one of the four original versions of the four seasons in Japan. It is given a light pink hue reminiscent of cherry blossoms or sakura. Here, the dark blue rock texture transforms into something more classic.
There are wide faceted hour markers on the dial, which contrasts sharply with the blue. Grand Seiko’s iconic phone has a fine-grained brushed top surface to avoid getting lost on the dark dial. As always, legibility here is very important.
SBGA469 has a diameter of 41 mm, a thickness of 12.5 mm, and a length of 49 mm. The stainless steel case provides a modern interpretation of the acclaimed Grand Seiko style. It has an eye-catching geometric shape, with long, multi-faceted lugs extending from the middle of the case and bending downward to fit the wrist. The finish is an elegant fusion of the hairline and Zaratsu polished surface. The crown is unscrewed by three screws, and the case has a rated pressure of 10 bar. SBGA469 comes with a matching five-piece bracelet and buckle.
The sapphire case back gives you an overview of the Spring Drive 9R65 movement. Spring Drive is manufactured at Shinshu Watch Studio in Nagano. It combines a mainspring and an electromagnetic regulator to work without an external power source. It provides an accuracy of one second per day, and has a second hand that advances in a smooth sliding motion, which is a unique feature of Spring Drive.
