Breitling Endurance Pro Quartz 44mm Review
A rugged watch is the kind of thing you would expect from a watchmaker like Breitling. What happens when this is already implemented? How do you push the limits of the proverbial heavy-duty watch?
Breitling has done something similar to the automotive industry by starting to use newer and more innovative materials to increase or maintain the same strength while reducing weight. Enter a new proprietary Breitlight case. A lightweight case made of ultra-light polymer that is not only scratch-resistant, but also traction and corrosion-resistant. How light is this case? It is more than 3 times lighter than titanium and 5.8 times lighter than stainless steel. It’s also hypoallergenic, thermally stable so it won’t overheat or freeze your wrist like a metal case during temperature fluctuations, and it’s also anti-magnetic.
The latest addition to the Breitling Professional Collection is the Breitling Endurance Pro Quartz. It has a 44mm new Breitlight case bezel and smooth beveled lugs with a lug width of 22mm. The solid case back is secured by four steel screws and features the “Endurance Pro” logo engraved in the center of the case back with a dashed effect.
While this watch does offer a water resistance rating of 100 meters (10 bars or 330 feet), it has no screw-down crown and should not be used for any deep-sea diving. At best it can be used for some light snorkeling, swimming or showering, as long as it’s only in cold water.
Quartz chronograph with excellent accuracy. Quartz movements are definitely more accurate than any mechanical movement, but the COSC-certified quartz movements found in this new collection are truly remarkable.
Endurance Pro luxury also has some interesting sides. There are currently five models in the collection with Diver Pro straps. The comfortable sporty rubber strap comes in one of five colors including white, navy, bright red, competition yellow and vivid orange. The Breitling wordmark is printed on each Diver Pro rubber strap and features a pin buckle.
Each color variation uses the same matching colors on the minute track, the outlines of the large numerals for the hour markers at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, as well as the ribbon on the crown and top chronograph pushers. Additionally, the dial flanges are in the same matching color. You can measure your heart rate because it has a white or black pulsometer scale printed on it, depending on the model.
The black dial features luminous indexes and numerals. The partially skeletonized hour and minute hands are made of polished steel and are filled with Super-LumiNova, a glow-in-the-dark filler.
The black recessed sub-dial is used for the small seconds at the 6 o’clock position of the dial and the chronograph on the left and right sides of the dial. The chronograph sub-dial uses red-tipped polished steel hands and a large red central seconds hand as the stopwatch second hand. The subdial of the small seconds has a hand filled with luminous material. The hour markers and numerals on all sub-dials are finely printed in a white light sans serif font. swiss men watch
Winged Breitling logo at 12 o’clock with white wordmark and year below. The series brand is located in the lower left corner of the dial, with the word ENDURANCE printed in all capital letters and framed by a slender white rectangular line. Opposite the series name between the 3 o’clock and 4 o’clock positions on the right side of the dial are the words CHRONOMETER in white all-caps. A small date window can be found between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.
The bidirectional rotating bezel is engraved with a white-filled compass scale. The north, south, east and west markings on the bezel are in large bold type. Arabic numerals for 30-degree increments and index separators use a slightly smaller font.
The best Breitling Caliber 82 that powers this watch is a COSC-certified, heat-compensated Super Quartz movement. When it comes to battery-powered watch movements, this is literally the stuff of legend. According to Breitling, it is about ten times more accurate than a standard quartz movement.
