The essence of the Corum Golden Bridge series – the bridge between minimalism and mechanical masters
The Corum Golden Bridge fake watch uses a refined French rectangular movement, showing the complex brilliance and superb skills of mechanical watchmaking. We present five beautiful versions that best represent the Golden Bridge collection
Skeleton watches and skeletonized displays have been all the rage in recent years, especially since these are times when mechanical watchmakers have become so indispensable to show the world the core of their craft. However, reducing the structure of a mechanical watch to its basics is something Corum has been good at for decades. It was watchmaker Vincent Calabrese’s desire to show the world the mechanics of a watch that led him to develop the Corum Golden Bridge’s French-style rectangular movement, which would become the brand’s most popular movement. The heart of an acclaimed timepiece.
A showcase of miniature art installations, the Golden Bridge watch has been celebrating the in-line French-oblong movement and its iterations since the 80s. Today, it appears in many different watches – in countless case shapes and sizes. Here we present some of the best pieces from the contemporary Golden Bridge collection.
Corum Watch Golden Bridge – Automatic Interpretation
While the original Golden Bridge was presented with a rectangular case, the appearance of the modern Golden Bridge collection is dominated by its tonneau-shaped silhouette. The tonneau-shaped case has always been the most prominent form of the Golden Bridge, and is even seen in its horizontal derivative, the Ti Bridge watch. This particular piece is also housed in a large rose gold tonneau case, which forms the perfect frame for the ornate French rectangular movement. The black alligator leather strap is an additional contrasting element. As the name suggests, the movement is a self-winding mechanism – the Corum CO313 movement – with a platinum linear oscillating weight. When fully wound, the power reserve is 40 hours.
The most interesting thing about this golden bridge is how the appearance changes when you put it on. When worn on the wrist, the 360-degree transparency disappears to create a backdrop that allows you to perfectly observe motion that doesn’t change between your wrists. This is achieved through the striped metal decoration on the sapphire crystal case back, which complements your viewing angle. The sapphire crystal of the watch features golden hour markers. The chronograph crown is located at the six o’clock position of the case and is water-resistant to 30m.
Modern Corum Watch Golden Bridge Rectangle
After several years and generations of Golden Bridge watches, Corum brought the rectangle back to the collection in 2017. This golden bridge rectangle was designed by Italian jewelry and watch designer Dino Modolo, who beautifully translated Art Deco inspiration into an avant-garde piece. The construction of this 18-carat rose gold watch is flanked by engraved and decorated bridges that represent the Roman numerals embedded in the rectangular movement, adding to the watch’s architectural appeal. At the launch, a brand spokesperson said: “We hope to further improve the architecture of the watch itself with the rectangular version, creating another classic version of our iconic Haute Horlogerie watch.”
The movement in the center is the CO113 hand-wound movement, which provides a 40-hour power reserve when fully wound. The gold case measures 29.5 x 42.2 mm and features a sapphire crystal and caseback, allowing you to see right through it. It is water resistant to 30m, unlike earlier versions of the golden bridge watch with the rectangular case. Brown alligator leather with rose gold three-fold clasp.
Corum Golden Bridge Round Building
This is the first golden bridge timepiece with a round case. Considering that round cases are preferred over any other shape, this has given the Golden Bridge collection a wider appeal among fans of the French oblong movement. The case is 43 mm in diameter and made of 18 karat rose gold. Not only does it give you an unobstructed view from front to back, but when you look at the side of the watch, the sapphire crystal on the case strap shows the movement of the intricate lattice structure on either side of the rose gold wire.
In fact, these structures are the most interesting features of this watch. Inspired by the Golden Gate Bridge in California, the design of this watch takes the architectural style of this collection to a whole new level. A line of inspiration that seems to fit perfectly with the collection, the elements of the iconic San Francisco structure seen on this watch are the sides. The straight and diagonal beams of the bridge are perfectly reproduced here in gold, with smaller longitudinal beams between the front and rear beams. Designer Dino Modolo has perfectly integrated this exquisite Golden Gate architecture into the architecture of this watch. The inner bezel and hands are made of brass, and at the heart of this watch is the CO113 hand-wound movement, which offers a 40-hour power reserve.
Classic Corum watch golden bridge
This is a classic version of the modern Golden Bridge watch. In the most exclusive tonneau-shaped case, the watch measures 34mm x 51mm, as small as the Golden Bridge. It captures the entire essence of the collection and showcases the classic CO113 hand-wound movement in all its glory, with nothing around to distract it.
To ensure that you can see all sides of the movement and its engraved and decorated “bridge” main plate, the sides of the case are also open, protected by a sapphire crystal. All of the sapphire crystals used in this watch are anti-glare treated, adding to this watch a visual treat for any onlooker. Water-resistant to 30m, the 18-karat rose gold case may be as transparent as the case.
Classic Corum Golden Bridge twists and turns
Similar in size and mechanism to the above model, this rose gold bridge also measures 34mm x 51mm and is powered by the CO113 movement. However, more in line with the automatic (the first feature on this list), this variant features the same striped trim on the case back, which creates the illusion of opacity when the watch rests on the wrist. The hour markers on the inside of the case back are also a feature in this automatic version. Still, the transparency of the piece remains perfectly intact – which is evident if you turn the watch over. With 30m water resistance and all those little details, this watch is definitely a highlight.
More stories about the Corum Watch Golden Bridge
The basics are beautiful, especially in a world of excess, and the idea that less is more is what drives our pursuit of minimalism. What was presented was an opportunity to really focus on the things that mattered the most — the things that had the biggest impact, those that made up the essence of the design and functionality. This is the design inspiration for this marvel in the field of mechanical timekeeping. A watchmaker wanted to put the most important part of a mechanical timekeeping instrument—the movement itself—first. Vincent Calabrese wanted to show the world the beauty he saw in watch mechanisms. He worked on streamlining the movement and designing its structure in a linear fashion. The result is an in-line oblong movement that not only showcases the heart of mechanical watchmaking, but it also reveals a complication in all its glory. This is the birth of the Corum Golden Bridge. replica watches luxury
First introduced in 1980, the Golden Bridge eventually became one of the four core pillars of the Corum watch. Adhering to the strict guidelines of staying true to the essence of the Golden Bridge, the collection has grown over the years beyond its visual splendor. When a platinum linear oscillating weight is added to create the self-winding version of the bridge, radiant form meets mechanical mastery. The evolution of shape and structure creates even wider appeal, while maintaining the essence of the bridge. The bridge found new meaning when the design was inspired by the architecture itself.
With or without decoration, automatic or hand-wound, the technically skilled rectangular-shaped movement is always at the heart of every watch in the Golden Bridge collection. No matter how long you wear the golden bridge, you’ll get a sneak peek every now and then, not just the time. So go ahead and enjoy the mechanism from every possible angle.
