Skeletonized matrix and bridge of grade 5 titanium
The bottom plate and bridge are made of grade 5 titanium alloy, which is a biocompatible, highly corrosion resistant and very hard alloy that ensures the perfect function of the gear train.
The alloy is 90% titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. The combination of grade 5 titanium alloy and black PVD treatment provides great rigidity and precise surface flatness for the entire assembly. This combination enhances the mechanical properties of the alloy, which explains why the alloy is often used in the aerospace, aerospace and automotive industries.

Cable suspension mechanism
The movement is based on a micro-blasting net and is a brand new product in the watchmaking industry. Formed by a single braided steel cable with a diameter of only 0.27 mm, and fixed in place by two turnbuckles treated with 5N gold PVD, this 855 square mm rope net can support the entire movement.
Inspired by the stringing process of the tennis racket, the watchmaker first fixed the steel cable to the turnbuckle from 5 o’clock. Then he began to weave the mesh structure, stringing each main string one after another before beginning to interweave the cross strings. Braided above and below the main string, the cable enters the hollow titanium flange 38 times, and then finally completes the stroke in the turnbuckle at 10 o’clock. In the course of many shocks experienced during a tennis match, the regular angles formed by these strings limit excessive friction and local wear on the main strings.
Then the movement is connected to the string net through five polished grade 5 5 titanium titanium hooks and undergoes 5N gold PVD treatment, which originates from the back of the base plate.
The RM27-04 movement is designed to remain suspended in the case and can withstand accelerations of more than 12,000 g: this is Richard Mille’s new resistance record.

This material is often used in automotive and traditional metal applications due to its dimensional stability and constant mechanical properties.
