Breitling launches Premier Heritage Chronograph and Datora
Retro chronograph in modern colors.
Breitling’s first full sale this year is the triple chronograph from Watches in 2021. The first is the Premier Heritage Chronograph, a simple and easy-to-use two-time chronograph, and the other is the Premier Heritage Datora, which combines an old-fashioned chronograph with a triple calendar. (The flagship model is the Premier Heritage Duograph split-second chronograph, which we will introduce in another story.)
The new Premier Heritage collection is based on its 1940s series of the same name, continuing the brand’s recent efforts to revisit its past catalog and reintroduce compelling references, but with some modern improvements, such as Premier Timekeeping The mint green dial of the stopwatch. .
initial thoughts
I am a loyal supporter of the new version. The Premier Heritage chronograph may not be the most innovative, but it is an improvement over the previous generation of Premier chronographs.https://www.vogue4uwatches.com
On the one hand, the case size has been reduced from 42 mm to 40 mm, making the proportions of the new watch more like its retro inspiration. The dial (now without a date window) is also cleaner. And its manual winding movement should satisfy traditionalists. They can also appreciate the movement through the sapphire back without using the rotor to block the line of sight.
That being said, the mint green dial may cause differences of opinion. The look is bold, but I can’t help asking whether keeping safe colors is a more sensible choice considering the retro design.
I have no reservations about Datora. I think this is great, especially the steel dial with the salmon dial. With its chronograph and triple calendar combination, it is very reminiscent of watches from the mid-20th century, giving it an old-world charm. Despite many instructions, the dial still uses a traditional layout, making the case look neat, symmetrical, and legible.
But the movement inside the Datora means a larger diameter and height, which means it has lost some of the retro charm of a standard chronograph.
The stainless steel model is much cheaper than the existing Premier B01 chronograph, and the price is similar to other famous manual-winding chronographs (such as the new Omega Speedmaster).
However, the ratio of Datora’s complexity to price can be said to be more of a value proposition. This is mainly because the inside of the movement is a Concepto movement derived from Valjoux 7750, although it has undergone major modifications to have cylindrical rollers.
Prestigious heritage chronograph
The Premier Heritage Chronograph is obviously retro, with syringe hands and Arabic numeral applications (with an open “6”) and domed sapphire crystal. The steel dial is paired with a striking “pistachio green” dial, while the 18k red gold dial retains more silver dials.
It is powered by B09 previously found on Avi Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition, this is the manual winding version of the internal calibre 01 in many high-end Breitling chronographs. This is a cylindrical gear movement with a vertical clutch, with a power reserve of 70 hours, and has passed COSC certification.
The case is 40 mm high and 13 mm high. It has alternating brushed and polished surfaces, with deep horizontal grooves on the sides, giving it a touch of Art Deco appearance. Other products in the Premier Heritage series (including Datora) also use the same case design.
Datola
Like the Premier Heritage chronograph, Datora relies on similar design elements—syringe pointer, domed sapphire crystal, external tachymeter scale—to enhance its retro look. The special feature of the nostalgic style is the small face on the moon phase indicator. cheap swiss watches
The steel case is matched with a copper dial, while the silver dial of the 18k rose gold model is the same as the gold Premier Heritage chronograph.
The Datora case measures 42mm x 15.35mm, making it the largest of the Premier Heritage models. It has the same style and appearance as other Premier chronographs, but the size makes it a bit too large for an old-fashioned chronograph, but it may be inevitable due to the B25 movement inside.
Inside Datora is B25, which is actually Concepto cal. 2000. Concepto is a movement manufacturer specializing in the production of high-end variants of Valjoux 7750. It has remade the 7750, replaced the standard cam with cylindrical gears, and installed its own adjuster. Therefore, the B25 is a cylindrical roller movement, although it has the same 48-hour power reserve as the stock 7750.
